The International 2023: TI12 Schedule, results, teams, where to watch

It’s that time of the year once more for Dota 2 fans.

The International returns home — back to Seattle for the first time since 2017, when a legendary Team Liquid roster cemented their legacy.

It’s a radically different landscape at TI12. Clement “Puppey” Ivanov isn’t here for the first time, new up-and-coming teams are hungry to prove themselves, while several Aegis of Champions holders, including a two-time champ, suit up to show that they have what it takes — again.

20 teams are competing for glory in Seattle, flying in from all over the world. 12 teams qualified through their exemplary performance during the Dota Pro Circuit, like three-time Major winners Gaimin Gladiators.

Eight more teams came through the regional qualifiers. South America and Western Europe received two slots instead of one, due to the regions’ strength through this year’s DPC.

TI12 tournament format

TI12 will follow a similar schedule to its latest iteration in Singapore, with the competition split up between three weekends:

Group Stage: October 12-15

Playoffs: October 20-22

The Finals: October 27-29

A new group stage format will take the place of the usual two big groups. Instead, four groups of five will be played, with the last team eliminated before moving on to head-to-head matches, meaning that every match matters.

TI12 group stage finally revealed: Which one is the ‘group of death’?

There will also no longer be lower-bracket best-of-ones. All 16 teams that enter the playoffs will get at least one best-of-three series to fight for their tournament lives at in Seattle.
